Pond Design
PondPack’s Intuitive Interface
PondPack's graphical user interface has been completely
redone using Microsoft .NET technology which equates to
significant productivity boosts to users throughout the
project cycle. This interface streamlines network
layout, data entry, and output viewing. We've kept the
point-and-click schematic network representation that
has made PondPack so popular, but now we've made layout
even more efficient with new right-click options that
enable you to add system elements "on the fly."
Integrated into Version 9 is a new project explorer
which simplifies data management with a tree view of all
data, similar to Windows Explorer - so it's a easy to
point and click to retrieve the data. With this easy to
use tree view - it's very obvious where your data is
since it's all in one location.
Completely reconstructed tabbed dialog boxes consolidate
data entry and output viewing for each element into a
single window. Input fields dynamically format to
reflect the user's selected methods, and new engineering
libraries that store information such as typical runoff
Curve Numbers and rainfall data are accessible directly
from these fields. Even graphs are viewable through
these rebuilt element dialog boxes.
Design Tabs
PondPack delivers a "start to finish" watershed solution
- the sequential tabs are your design steps - so it's
easy to keep track of where you are in the design
process.
With these new tabs, you can start with step one,
specifying your rainfall (see below for the numerous
rainfall options), move through each of the steps laid
out in a tabular format and quickly reach the last step,
the routing process. This new structure provides all of
the design information at your fingertips and will get
help you get to your results faster.
Rainfall Data
Rainfall requirements vary among different cities,
counties, and states. PondPack helps you to model your
specific regional requirements by handling an unlimited
number of synthetic or real storm events of any duration
or distribution. This flexibility makes PondPack an
ideal choice when dealing with complex review agency
requirements. With PondPack, you can have an unlimited
number of return events using standard and regionalized
methods such as:
• SCS 24-hour Type I, IA, II, & III rainfall
distributions
• Bulletin 70 and 71 rainfall distribution data for the
Midwest U.S.
• Gauged rainfall data
• Rainfall curves created from I-D-F data
• I-D-F curves
• And more
Infiltration and Runoff
Computations
With PondPack, you can apply a variety of infiltration
and runoff methods to accurately solve for runoff depths
and volumes for use with hydrograph calculations. You
can choose from the SCS Runoff CN Method, Green & Ampt
Equation, Horton Equation, initial and average
infiltration rates, user-defined infiltration equations,
and more.
Time of Concentration Calculator
With PondPack's Time of Concentration Calculator, you
can calculate Tc quickly and accurately, even when there
are several possible flow paths to consider. You can set
up different "what-if" situations for various
assumptions to remove the guesswork in finding the most
representative Tc, or directly insert your own value.
Peak Flow & Hydrograph Methods
PondPack lets you choose from many different methods for
calculating hydrographs and peak discharges, which gives
you the flexibility to meet local and regional
specifications and regulations. PondPack can solve for
peak discharges using the SCS Graphical Peak Discharge
Method, or the Rational Method, or generate and add an
unlimited number of hydrographs throughout your
watershed.
