Detailed Feature
List:
Layout Tools
Work to scale if you have a base map, or work
schematically. You can even mix and match scaled and
schematic sections in the same project, which is
especially handy in tight areas of a drawing (such as at
pump stations or other complicated piping areas).
Maintain intelligent network connectivity. Move a
manhole, and the connecting pipes rubber-band and snap
to the new location.
Morph existing elements by simply dragging and dropping
the new element on top of the old one. It’s easier than
ever to change a junction chamber to a manhole, or to
turn a manhole into a wet-well.
Split a pipe by inserting a new node (junction, pump,
manhole, etc.) with a click of the mouse. The two new
pipes will automatically have the same basic
characteristics as the original pipe – there is no need
to delete and rebuild sections of your model!
Set default element characteristics using prototypes.
Locate, view, and edit the information you’re looking
for quickly and intuitively with the tabbed editor
dialogs.
Undo & Redo
Undo and redo an unlimited number of actions. Just
imagine trying to use a product without this
error-averting feature!
Stand Alone
Build your network in any order. Move, edit, and delete
elements as you please.
Work schematically, or work to scale with a DXF
background base map.
Double-click on any element to edit the properties and
view the results.
Locate, view, and edit data faster and easier with
intuitive tools and well-organized dialogs.
Control the drawing environment completely, with total
control over background and foreground colors, symbol
and text sizes.
Pipe Networks
Mix gravity and pressure components freely, building
your systems in parallel or in series as they exist in
the field.
Combine any number of separate sanitary sewer networks
in a single project file.
Use any number of pumps with your wet-wells. You can
even pump to multiple downstream gravity systems.
Gravity & Pressure Hydraulics
Analyze pressure or partial (free surface) flow
conditions automatically, including transitions.
Gravity-based hydraulic grade lines are calculated using
standard-step gradually varied flow algorithms. Using
these robust algorithms, SewerCAD solves for subcritical,
critical, and supercritical conditions - even for
complex composite profiles.
Control pressure elements based on the time of day or
system hydraulics, turning pumps on and off due to
changes in flows and pressures.
Use various pipe materials, including concrete, PVC, and
more. Choose different section shapes for individual
pipes: circular, box, arch, or even elliptical.
Calculate using common friction methods. SewerCAD
supports Manning's, Kutter's, Darcy-Weisbach, and
Hazen-Williams formulas.
Perform gravity structure headloss calculations based on
your choice of methods, including Standard, Absolute,
FHWA HEC-22, and AASHTO.
Take structure properties into account automatically,
including bend angles, structure geometry, benching, and
more.
Analyze the system under an extreme flow condition, or
perform an extended period simulation (EPS) to see how
the system behaves over time.
Examine calculation warnings (such as a wet-well rising
above an alarm level) in the new Message Browser. You
can even sort to customize your view of the message,
based on time, networked element, message type, and so
on.
LoadingCapabilities
Load your model based on contributing population,
service area, total dry weather discharge, or your own
customized loading types.
Select from the numerous pre-defined extreme flow factor
formulas and tables, including Babbit, Harmon, Ten
State, and Federov’s – or enter your own formulas and
tables.
Organize loading data in Engineering Libraries for reuse
in any project.
Determine infiltration based on pipe length, diameter,
surface area, length-diameter, or user-defined data.
Associate load with repeating diurnal patterns, or enter
hydrographs directly.
Directly import patterns, hydrographs, and other loading
data. This makes it especially easy to reuse information
you already have in another program (such as Pondpack).
Automatic Design
Design the entire network, selected portions, or just a
single element. What you design and the conditions you
impose are completely up to you.
Determine pipe sizes and locations according to minimum
and maximum constraints, such as cover, velocity, and
pipe slope constraints.
Match pipe crowns or inverts at structures, with or
without offsets. You can even choose whether or not to
allow drop structures to avoid excessive slopes and
unnecessary pipe trench excavation.
Cost Analysis
Assess the costs associated with the sanitary sewer
collection and pumping system automatically.
Recommend future improvements based on both hydraulic
impact and construction cost.
Data Sharing
Draw on existing pipe data, network topology, and
digital terrain models within Autodesk Land Development
Desktop / Civil Design (LDD/CD) projects.
Connect your SewerCAD model to GIS systems, databases,
and spreadsheets.
Handle different unit systems, different data types, and
even multiple data sources easily and without hassle.
Scenario Management
Take advantage of true scenario management to see how
your system reacts to different conditions, including
all of the extended modeling capabilities.
Track design alternatives and "what-if" conditions
seamlessly with SewerCAD’s comprehensive Scenario
Manager and wizards.
Minimize data entry (and the risk of error) with
scenario management’s full data inheritance.
Make changes easily, and let the changes cascade through
the inheritance tree. If a part of the system changes,
just revise the appropriate "parent" data and let the
"children" automatically update to reflect the change.
Data Sharing: GIS, Databases, & More
Link your hydraulic model to a GIS, SCADA, or other data
management tool — in any location, any format, and any
units. Just point at the data that you want, and let
SewerCAD take care of the rest.
Connect directly to databases and spreadsheets,
including Jet (Microsoft Access), dBase, Paradox,
BTrieve, FoxPro, Excel, and Lotus, or use ODBC to
connect to Oracle, SQL Server, and other popular
database applications.
Convert existing CAD lines, polylines, and blocks
automatically, creating intelligent hydraulic elements.
Utilize existing pipe data, network topology, and
digital terrain models within AutoCAD Land Development
Desktop / Civil Design (LDD/CD) projects.
Handle different unit systems, different data types, and
even multiple data sources easily and without hassle.
Custom Data Extensions
Extend the model to include any information you want.
Fully customize your extensions as text, Booleans
(true/false values), Y2K compliant dates, or even
unitized numbers.
Utilize FlexUnits™, annotation, color-coding, data
sharing, and more. All data extensions have the same
editing and reporting capabilities as the built-in
attributes.
Quick Attribute Selector
Color-coding, annotation, FlexTables™, and database
connections all benefit from the new Quick Attribute
Selector. From input to calculated results, and even
custom user data extensions, the Quick Attribute
Selector categorizes data types and allows you to
speedily find and use any of the hundreds of pieces of
data that describe your system.
Flexible Tables (FlexTables)
Open a tabular view of your network for quick reference
and easy group data-entry.
Customize any table completely, or create your own. You
choose which variables to display, the order in which
they appear, their labels, and even the units and
display precision.
Perform queries and other operations, such as filtering
the table to include only elements that match certain
criteria, sorting the table in any order, and globally
applying mathematical transformations to the elements in
the table.
Mix system elements (manholes, pipes, pumps, etc.) in
your tables, to match required report formats.
Display duplicate columns in different units, to help
you get a better "feel" for units that you aren't
familiar with.
Color Coding
Color-code the system according to any characteristic:
pipe diameter, flow rate, velocity, node elevation,
hydraulic grade, etc.
Choose to color-code pipes, nodes, or both. Include
color-coding legends directly in the project drawing, or
simply display them on-screen with the QuickView™
window.
Annotation (Labeling)
Annotate your system by adding customized descriptive
text and values to your drawing.
Watch the annotation update dynamically as you change
input data or switch scenarios.
Align labels and annotation with pipes.
Comprehensive Reporting
Create detailed reports for any element or group of
elements. Data is presented in a logical report-ready
format.
Generate system-wide summaries and project inventories.
Use customizable tables to present data in the order and
format you choose. Manipulate the tables to suit your
needs, making use of the persistent built-in filtering,
sorting, and editing tools.
Compare input and output from different scenarios with
tools like comparative annotation.
Copy reports, profiles, and tables to the Windows
clipboard for inclusion in your favorite word processor
or spreadsheet.
Graphing
Create graphs of time-variable data, such as wet-well
grade, pump operation, pipe flow, and so forth.
Compare results for multiple elements and multiple
scenarios on the same graph.
Fully customize graphs and profiles by editing fonts,
colors, and text to match your desired appearance.
Plan & Profile Results
Select a sequence of pipes to profile for elevation,
hydraulic grade, pressure, etc. See where the hydraulic
bottlenecks in the system are, select possible locations
for pump installations, or just get a feel for the "lay
of the land".
Profile through gravity and pressure sections of the
system.
You control profile plots completely, choosing which
variables to display and the position of profile
annotations.
Enhance your profiles by automatically including the
gradually varied flow water surface.
Customize profiles and other graphs by editing fonts,
colors, and text to match your desired output format.
Store, recall, and modify profiles within the Profile
Manager. Profiles are persistent, so you never have to
recreate a profile from scratch.
Create and apply Profile Templates. Similar to a
word-processing template, Profile Templates allow you to
specify default presentation characteristics for your
profiles, for everything from orientation and scale to
annotation placement and leader style.
Animation
Animate results in any view of the model. Watch as
SewerCAD automatically steps through the simulation
times, updating color-coding, annotation, profile
grades, and more as it progresses. This feature is
especially useful for identifying trouble spots within
the system, and evaluating the temporal effects of
critical events.
